Tools Of The Trade

If you’re serious about wanting to cook better, grill better, EAT better, ya gotta git the right tools! Ya don’t wanna be hammerin’ nails in with a screwdriver!

There are certain things we believe you need to have around to make grilling or cooking easier, cleaner, and more fun. Let’s list a few here:

  • Apron

“Don’t mess yo clothes, git one of those!” If you go to ANY restaurant, café, bar, etc., we guaranty they got aprons on somewhere. An apron protects your clothing, plus let’s everybody know YOU MEAN BIDNESS! They also have pockets to put some of the other things you may want to have around.

  • Meat Thermometer

Let me tell you this; YOU need one of these. It is a master control and a great gauge to tell you when to pull your meat off the fire. The LAST thing you want to serve to your guests is undercooked meat… yuck. Once you get used to using a thermometer, you can really control the doneness of you meat and preferences of your guests.

  • Knife

“A good chef is only as sharp as his or her knife!” This is another must have! Don’t go cheap here. Git a quality sharp knife with a cover or protector. Then, HIDE IT! Yo family will ruin yo knife! They are conditioned to do so! HIDE IT! Keep it sharp too. You want that knife sharp so when you cut something (vegetables, meat, etc.) it don’t tear it up.

  • Cast Iron Skillet

This is a must have as well. I remember growing up, and having these at my Mom’s house and at my Grandmother’s house. They are heirloom items that are passed down from generation to generation. Today, frying pans are cheap and have that “non-stick-space-age-black-stuff” that comes off and gits in your food, and that don’t taste good! DON’T STEAL YOUR GRANDMA’S SKILLET!!! Go to a thrift store, or Ebay. That’s your best deal. I bought plenty pans off Ebay! It’s gotta be seasoned well too, and NEVER use soap on it!!! Hot water, and a stainless steel scour pad on it. Wipe out with a dry paper towel, and put a few drops of vegetable oil all over it. DONE.

Now, there are more tools to git, but git these first. Trust us, these are what you need by your side everyday in the kitchen!
